The Cypriot Final was held on March 13th at the International Conference Centre in Nicosia, hosted by Stavros Louras. The winner was chosen by an "expert" jury.

Haris Anastasiou was previously a dancer for Cyprus at ESC 1987. At the ESC, he came 14th. Yiannis Demetriou would have represented Cyprus at ESC 1988 if their song had not been withdrawn. Evridiki was a backing singer for Cyprus at ESC 1983, 1985 and 1987. Alex Panayi was a backing singer for Cyprus at ESC 1989.
