The Swedish Final was held on February 27th at Victoriahallen in Stockholm, hosted by Anders Lundin & Vendela Thommessen. The winner was chosen by 11 regional juries (50%) & televoting (50%).

Charlotte Nilsson was previously a backing singer for Björn Hedström in the 1995 Swedish Final. She went on to win the ESC performing the song in English as "Take me to your heaven". Amongst her backing singers at the ESC was Gabriel Forss who represented Sweden in ESC 1997 in the group 'Blond'. Christer Björkman represented Sweden in ESC 1992, Arvingarna in 1993 & Roger Pontare in 1994.
