The Swedish Final was held on February 27th at Victoriahallen in Stockholm, hosted by Anders Lundin & Vendela Thommessen. The winner was chosen by 11 regional juries (50%) & televoting (50%).

Charlotte Nilsson was previously a backing singer for Björn Hedström in the 1995 Swedish Final. She went on to win the ESC where her backing singers included Gabriel Forss who represented Sweden at ESC 1997 in the group 'Blond'. Christer Björkman represented Sweden at ESC 1992, Arvingarna at ESC 1993 & Roger Pontare at ESC 1994.
