The Spanish Heats were held at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. The first three heats had 15 singers performing cover versions. The top 3 singers chosen by regional televoting (indicated by a 'T') and 2 singers chosen by an "expert" jury (indicated by a 'J') qualified for the semi-final. In the fourth heat, 12 singers competed, with the top 3 chosen by regional televoting and 1 chosen by an "expert" jury qualifying for the semi-final. Additionally, 4 duets made up of performers from previous heats participated and one of them was chosen by televoting to qualify for the semi-final.
