The Latvian Final was held on February 28th at the Olympic Center in Ventspils hosted by Ugis Joksts & Kristine Virsnite. Before the final there was a semi-final - click here for details: LATVIAN SEMI-FINAL 2009 The winner was chosen in two rounds of voting. In the first round the top 3 songs were chosen by televoting (50%) and an "expert" jury (50%) - points were awarded in terms of placings (1st place = 1 point etc), therefore the 3 lowest scoring songs progressed to the second round where the winner was chosen by televoting.

Intars Busulis previously came 12th in the 2002 & 2003 Latvian Finals (in the group 'Caffe') and 2nd in 2007. At the 2nd ESC Semi-Final he came 19th performing the song in Russian as "Probka".
