The Cypriot Final was held on February 16th at the Nea Leoforos Nightclub in Limassol, hosted by Loukas Hamatsos. The winning song was chosen by an "expert" jury which included ESC 1999 winner Charlotte Nilsson and Lina Kawar who was a backing singer for Cyprus in 1997 & 1999.

Alex Panayi previously represented Cyprus in ESC 1995, and was also a backing singer for Cyprus in 1989 and 1991. He also participated in the Cypriot Finals of 1990 (3rd), 1993 (3rd) and 1998 (2nd). Christina Argyri was a backing singer for Marietta Mitsidou in the 1993 Cypriot Final, came 3rd in the 1994 Cypriot Final and was a backing singer for Cyprus in the 1995 ESC. Alex and Christina called themselves 'Voice' at the ESC where they performed the song in a mixture of Greek and Italian and came 21st. Amongst their backing singers were Giorgos Gavriel and Lina Kawar.
