The Croatian Final was held at the HRT TV Studios in Zagreb on March 4th, hosted by Bojana Gregoric & Dusko Curlic. The winner was chosen by 5 regional juries, 4 televoting regions, internet voting & an "expert" jury.

Vanna previously came 2nd in the 2000 Croatian Final. At the ESC she performed her song in English as "Strings of my heart" and came 10th. Tereza Kesovija represented Monaco in ESC 1966 & Yugoslavia in 1972. Putokazi represented Croatia in ESC 1993 with different group members. A different line-up of Novi Fosili represented Yugoslavia at ESC 1987. Vladimir Kocis-Zec was a member of the group Novi Fosili when they represented Yugoslavia in 1987. Toni Cetinski represented Croatia in 1994. Emilia Kokic was lead singer of the group Riva that won ESC 1989.
