The Swedish Final was held on February 25th at Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg, hosted by Fredrik Belfrage. The winner was chosen by nine juries (split according to age) in two rounds of voting - the first to select the top 5 and the second to select the winner.

The Herreys went on to win ESC 1984, where Lotta Pedersen was one of their backing singers. Elisabeth Andreasson represented Sweden at ESC 1982 in the group Chips.
