The Swedish Final was held on February 11th at Cirkus in Stockholm, hosted by Ulf Elfving. The winner was chosen by 11 regional juries. As there was a tie at the end of the voting, each jury had to vote again for one of the two tied songs - Björn Skifs won by 8 votes to 3.

Björn Skifs previously came 9th in the 1972 Swedish Final & 5th in 1975. At the ESC he was 14th. Göran Fristorp represented Sweden at ESC 1973 (in the group 'Nova').
