"Long live life and the night, long live the dark sky and the belt of stars"

The Finnish Final was held on February 16th at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki, hosted by Seppo Hovi. Before the final there was a radio semi-final in which the following 5 songs were eliminated: "Houmen kauas johtaa" - Bianca Morales, "Minut muistatko vielä" - Tapani Kansa, "Sanat sanomatta jäivät" - Tapani Kansa, "Ei tarvii sympatiaa" - Jokke Seppälä and "Musiikin syke" - Sonja Lumme.  The winner was chosen by 6 regional juries.

Ami Aspelund Riki Sorsa Jokke Seppälä

Sonja Lumme previously came 5th, 6th & 11th in the 1984 Finnish Final. At the ESC, she was 9th. Ami Aspelund represented Finland in ESC 1983. Riki Sorsa represented Finland in ESC 1981. Jokke Seppälä was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1983 & 1984 and went on to be one of Sonja Lumme's backing singers at the ESC.
