The Belgian Final was held on March 14th at the Amerikaans Theater in Brussels, hosted by Luc Appermont. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 5 regional juries & an "expert" jury.

Liliane St. Pierre previously came 4th in the 1978 Luxembourg Final & 2nd in the 1981 Belgian Final. At the ESC she was 11th. One of Margriet Hermans' backing singers was Bianca Maesen who represented The Netherlands at ESC 1970 (in 'Hearts of Soul') & Belgium at ESC 1977 (in 'Dream Express').
