The Slovene Semi-Final (EMA Freš) was held on January 18th at the RTVSLO TV Studios in Ljubljana, hosted by Maja Pinteric & Bojan Cvjeticanin. Before the semi-final there were a series of qualifying heats held online on the RTVSLO website, hosted by Bojan Cvjeticanin, Klemen Kopina, Denis Živcec, Maja Pinteric & Rebeka Tomc. Each week 6 songs participated - from Monday-Wednesday 2 songs took part in a dual - the winner of which (chosen by online voting) qualified for the weekly final on the Friday. During the weekly final two of the songs qualified for the EMA Freš final - 1 chosen by online voting & 1 by an "expert" jury. For the weekly finals, the online voting results are followed by the placings of the "expert" jury. This resulted in 6 songs qualifying for the EMA Freš final. The remaining 12 songs then had a second chance as the whole process was repeated starting from November 25th - this resulted in 4 more songs qualifying for the EMA Freš final. Of the 10 songs in the EMA Freš Final - two qualified for the Slovene Final - 1 chosen by televoting & 1 by an "expert" jury.
