The Russian Final was held on March 7th at the Akademicheskiy Concert Hall in Moscow, hosted by Olga Shelest & Mikhail Zelenskiy. The winner was chosen by a mixture of televoting (50%) and an "expert" jury (50%).

Buranovskiye Babushki previously came 3rd in the 2010 Russian Final. At the ESC they were 2nd. Polina Smolova represented Belarus in ESC 2006, Dima Bilan represented Russia in ESC 2006 & 2008 and Yuliya Volkova represented Russia in ESC 2003 (in the group tATu).
