The Maltese Final was held on February 3rd at the Malta Fairs & Convention Centre in Ta' Qali, hosted by Colin Fitz. The winner was chosen by televoting (50%) and an "expert" jury (50%).

Christabelle previously came equal 8th in the 2014 Maltese Final, 2nd in 2015 & 4th in 2016. At the 2nd ESC Semi-Final she was 13th, where one of her backing singers was Petra. Richard Edwards represented Malta in ESC 2014 in the group Firelight.
