ICELAND |
The Icelandic Semi-Finals were held at Háskólabíó in Reykjavik, hosted by Björg Magnúsdóttir, Fannar Sveinsson & Benedikt Valsson. The top 2 songs in each semi-final (chosen by televoting) qualified for the final. After both of the semi-finals, an "expert" jury awarded one of the losing songs a 'wildcard' to the final.

Matti Matt (Matthías Matthíasson) previously represented Iceland in ESC 2011 in the group Sjonni's Friends. Amongst his backing singers were Vignir Snær Vigfússon & Hreimur Örn Heimisson who were also both members of the group Sjonni's Friends in ESC 2011. Vignir was also in the backing group for Iceland in ESC 2003 & 2018.
